Summary
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, the position will be responsible for the following:
To maintain up-to-date general and sub-ledgers, cashbooks, reconciliations, payroll and asset registers. To assist with financial reporting, treasury management, related statutory (including tax) compliance and elements of financial risk management.
Description
The incumbent will be responsible for among others:
- Contributing towards development and implementation of the finance strategy
- Contributing towards the development of financial and risk management
- Advise Management and Board on the updates in financial reporting standards, finance governance requirements and align financial policies accordingly.
- Prepare financial reports that are accurate, timely and give a true and fair view about the financial status of the BVI and also meet the requirement of
IFRS - Review all tax and VAT submissions to ensure that all tax filings are correct, timely and are in accordance with regulatory requirements of
BURS - Produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to facilitate business making decisions
- Reconcile the BVI statement of financial position (balance sheet) items Contribute towards the development of an internal Financial Management
Framework of processes, practices, policies, systems and controls aligned to the BVI’s financial planning cycle and requirements - Assist the Chief Finance Officer to manage internal / external audit reviews
- Undertake corrective actions on audit findings to close them timeously
- Identify, assess risks and potential risks in financial reporting at BVI and develop risk mitigation strategies and policies
- Coordinate the processing of the Payroll to ensure that staff salaries are
paid on time
- Reporting to the Finance Director, ensure that tax obligations are discharged correctly and effectively and in line with legislative
requirements
Minimum Requirements
The right candidate will possess the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management or equivalent
- Professional qualification (e.g. CIMA; ACCA; or CA)
- BICA Associate Membership
- Eight (8) years post qualification experience three (3) of which should have been at supervisory level
