FINANCIAL CONTROLLER – HEAD OFFICE BPS 5/1/2 Vol.1 (2)
JOB SUMMARY
This role is for planning, directing and implementing efficient and effective accounting and financial management systems and procedures within the Finance Department to meet business objectives consistent with BotswanaPost Group policies. The position directly reports to the Chief Finance Officer.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Key Responsibilities;
• Maintain and develop customer satisfaction by liaising with user departments and post offices to establish accounting and reporting procedures and deadlines to ensure that accounting information is processed in accordance with customer service standards.
• Ensure that all payments and other expenditures are carried out in compliance with laid down procedures and authorised in accordance with budgetary provisions.
• Manage the processing of information gathering, processing, and storage and identify and evaluate appropriate information systems
• Manage the processing of international payments to other postal authorities in accordance with international and revenue sharing agreements.
• Ensure team members meet performance targets by providing day to day guidance, planning, training and support and conducting performance appraisals in accordance with Botswana Post business strategy and Human Capital policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance to the organization’s internal governance instruments and plans affecting the function.
• Liaise with External Auditors in the execution of statutory audit and preparation of Annual Financial Statements.
• Ensure compliance to internal financial regulations at all times and work closely with the internal audit team to review financials and other performances data to identify areas of nonconformance ensuring corrective action is taken.
• Manage the production of detailed Capital Investment Appraisals for proposed major purchases and Capital Projects in conjunction with the relevant functions to maximise returns.
• Manage the production of monthly detailed Project Management Reports for current Capital Projects.
• Allocate duties, supervise and coach the team to meet set performance standards.
• Ensure Compliance to leave management and ensure overall staff welfare of the team.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Full membership of an internationally recognised professional accounting institute (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CPA).
• Knowledge in organising and controlling a major financial and accounting function.
• Membership of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of seven (7) years’ experience with at least two years post qualification experience at a management level in a large commercial or parastatal organisation.
• Extensive experience in computerised accounting systems and applications essential.
