FIELD OPERATOR TRAINEE x3- MATSHELAGABEDI AND MORUPULE
In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than 05/21/2024
Main purpose of the position
To operate and monitor the power plant field equipment to ensure safe and efficient power generation in accordance with safety standard and operating procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Performs functional tests on equipment following operational standing instructions, such as emergency protection devices tests and cut-in tests (e.g., fire pumps and emergency generators etc) to ensure reliability/availability of emergency facilities to minimise the risk of failure.
- Carries out routine plant inspection checks and monitors plant equipment and machinery operating status to ensure effective condition
- Writes up logs to record plant equipment performance such as temperature and pressure readings and turbine vibrations etc to ensure there is a record of operational status and occurrences.
- Provides preliminary data for Root Cause Analysis
- Works within current standard operating procedures and reports shortcomings.
- Cleans plant equipment including the removal of spillages
- Performs housekeeping by following established procedures
- Implements improvements and carries out simple change management tasks by following established procedures
- Operates plant equipment from field, adjusting work sequence as per instruction to improve efficiency.
- To monitor the plant from local, defecting shortfalls for improvement to ensure optimum operation.
- Collates Plant equipment data for performance monitoring.
- Operates in accordance with policies and procedures, while performing routine safety checks on equipment and workspace.
- Contributes to the development of risk assessments
Qualifications
- A recognized National Craft Certificate (NCC) in Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance or Equivalent
- Must be a Competent Person, within 6 months of appointment
- A valid Class B Driver’s license (within 6 months of appointment)
