Driver Operator – Grader -GRP3/LV2

Purpose of the Role

To drive and operate a Front End Loader in accordance with Debswana standards and legal requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Recommends cost saving initiatives for inclusion in sectional budget process
  • Conducts Risk Assessment before the commencement of any work as per laid down policies and procedures
  • Drives and operates machine to rip and dig trenches for water control while monitoring grade set.
  • Drives/operates machine between sites as required in accordance with existing policies and procedures
  • Operates/drives machine to clean spillage on haul roads, blasted areas and other areas as assigned Drives and operates machine to construct haul roads to the required standard
  • Performs visual checks on machinery/equipment in order establish any defects, assessing specific requirements and reporting findings to the supervisor/dispatch foreman as appropriate
  • Positions machine into fuel bay with assistance of the Fuel Bay Attendant
  • Records fuel quantity filled
  • Disembarks from machine to refresh as per the laid down policies and procedures
  • Interacts with fleet management systems as per the policies and procedures
  • Consistently communicates with the Dispatch Foreman, Shift Foreman and other crew
  • Performs tasks of a predominantly manual nature which includes but not limited to; cleaning of the cab, cleaning of the machine body as and when required

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all safety, health and environmental policies in area of responsibility taking cognisance of all legal requirements

Education

  • O Level

Experience

2 years experience in a mining environment

Legal Certification/Professional Registration

  • Drivers License – Class B
  • Must have a valid competency certificate for Grader GD825
  • Must pass Vienna test
