Purpose of the Role
Drives the development and operationalisation of principles, practices, frameworks, tools, structures, partnerships, and collaborations for efficient and effective execution of the company’s strategic digital project portfolio and guides the development of robust business cases for portfolio projects.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Interprets the financial needs of the digital project portfolio to secure adequate financial resources to meet business objectives that underpin the portfolio
- Prioritises the identified portfolio opportunities effectively to ensure budget compliance during portfolio execution.
- Identifies current and future gaps in the digital project portfolio relative to the company’s strategic goals/objectives and recommends appropriate remediation strategies.
- Guides stakeholders in the application of the company’s Value Management Framework in the development of portfolio opportunities.
- Develops, manages the implementation, and monitors strategies and processes to enable the digital project portfolio to achieve the relevant strategic goals/objectives.
- Collaborates with the leadership and stakeholders in the definition of scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals with respect to the digital project portfolio.
- Creates and organizes high performing cross-functional teams to work in the different projects under the digital project portfolio.
- Designs, develops, and manages the implementation of the capabilities that are required for the management of the digital project portfolio.
- Manages the procurement and consumption of outsourced programme and/or project support services for the digital project portfolio.
- Guides the cross-functional teams that work on the different projects under the digital project portfolio to successfully initiate, plan, execute and closeout the projects.
- Reviews and approves the work plans of external service providers or consultancies that are contracted to provide change management support services.
- Assesses and classifies impacts of the change that emanates from digital projects on stakeholders and stakeholder groups in collaboration with change management specialists.
- Develops, manages the implementation, and monitors standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation across the digital project portfolio.
- Evaluates how different project teams perform and makes sure they achieve targets and meet deadlines.
- Identifies opportunities to improve processes, systems, and ways of working that are pertinent to management of projects in the digital project portfolio.
- Benchmarks project management performance continuously to identify the potential for improvements and increase capability in project and portfolio management.
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives with a focus on improvement of programme and project management efficiencies.
- Coaches the delivery teams on relevant project management tools, methodologies, and practices for better delivery outcomes.
- Mentors and reinforces team members in line with the mission, vision, values, goals and performance standards of formal and informal teams
- Initiates, monitors and controls short term sectional projects to ensure attainment of desired results
- Implements knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Identifies and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and sustain business performance
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives
- Manages and coordinates the implementation of safety, health and environmental programme in area of responsibility

Education
- Bachelor’s Degree: Business, Engineering, Finance, Humanities, IT, Science, etc.
Experience
- 8 years post qualification experience.
Experience in:
- Agile development methodologies and practices.
- Business analysis in digital initiatives.
- Digital project management.
- Leading and working with cross-functional teams.
- Working on digital initiatives in the mining industry is advantageous.
- Good understanding of the full mine value chain is advantageous.
