DESCRIPTION
The primary purpose of a diamond drill supervisor is to oversee/manage and mentor/train the diamond drill operators and offsiders. The Supervisor shall ensure all employees/contractors are actively involved in achieving a safe and positive work environment. Health & Safety issues coupled with environment are top priority. This key position will provide an excellent opportunity to further develop skills of an individual’s career in a safe, dynamic environment while working with a team of underground professional miners.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operation and management of electric/hydraulic diamond drill, capable of drilling holes of 1200m depth (NQ/BQ).
- Compliance with all HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) policies and procedures.
- Ensure comprehension/understanding of drill plans to ensure rig is set up correctly and accurate reporting of drill shift and production.
- Proactively manage all drill consumables and additives related to drills under his/her supervision.
- Use leadership and time management skills to manage of drill breakdowns, moves and setup of rig.
- Complete daily shift paperwork detailing meterages and issues occurring at the drill.
- Provide additional support to management as required.
Qualifications & Experience:
- BGCSE/equivalent plus relevant Diamond Drill Operator certification/licence.
- At least 10 years relevant work experience, Underground experience preferred.
- Strong background/experience in drilling hard rock, high grade metamorphosed Archean Gneiss’ utilizing BQ sized diameter core, holes up to 1200m length.
- Background/experience with operation and troubleshooting electric hydraulic diamond drills, previous knowledge and prior experience of hydraulic systems is preferred.
- Experience in rebuilding Boyles B20 heads, downhole pumps coupled with welding experience would be considered a great asset.
