Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this role is to design, implement and manage a stakeholder relations engagement framework, as well as a sponsorship and partnerships framework. Enhancing goodwill, trust, regular and timely stakeholder engagement and feedback is important to Debswana’s reputation and social capital. This role will play a key role in this, as well as taking into cognizance brand positioning and Debswana’s strategic goals.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage and coordinate the implementation of Debswana’s Stakeholder Relations, Sponsorship and Partnerships strategy and annual plans
  • Manage and coordinate the implementation of Debswana-wide stakeholder map and analysis; and where necessary develop issues specific stakeholder map and stakeholder analysis
  • Develop concept notes for and implement value-adding, brand enhancing and business strategy aligned stakeholder engagements, sponsorships and partnerships programmes
  • Ensure alignment with the company’s code of conduct and business ethics, business and transformation strategy, Stakeholder Engagement Standard and Policies, CSI and Sponsorships policies, Debswana’s ESG, citizen economic empowerment
  • Provide advice regarding Debswana’s external relations and partnerships
  • Track and coordinate key government and relevant stakeholder relations programmes across Debswana
  • Develop position papers and fact sheets for management’s consideration in various relevant areas, taking into account regulatory, legislation and industry-specific requirements; and provide briefings on specific issues
  • Coordinate and provide support for Debswana representation in external forums
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of annual stakeholder relations and partnerships annual plans and provide data-driven recommendations for improvement
  • Undertake special projects as required

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Acquire knowledge on the implementation of safety, health and environmental programmes

Education

  • Degree or professional qualification in a relevant discipline ( e.g Communications Management, International Relations, Sociology, Economics, Political science)

Experience

8 years work experince, of which 3 years should be in Stakeholder Relations and Partnerships

Legal Certification/Professional Registration

  • Membership of a communication / PR / reputation management or related association
