Purpose of the Role
To initiate, negotiate, execute and manage performance of procurement contracts for Debswana operations, to ensure availability of goods and services for production requirements in a cost effective manner (tendering to contract close-out)
Key Job Responsibilities
- Initiates, executes and issues tenders and recommends the most commercially and technically acceptable offer for adjudication by the Tender Committees.
- Assists the end users with documenting the Scope of works/services to ensure timeous delivery
- Prepares and issues tender packages/enquiries to prospective tenderers; and maintains a register of all tenders issued as well as all tender-related documents
- Completes technical adjudications with the end users/customers, and influence spend towards Citizen-owned companies
- Executes commercial adjudications of submitted tenders including clarifications of tender qualifications
- Prepares and issues a Notification of Contract Award (NOCA)/ Letter of Acceptance (LOA) on the agreed terms and conditions to the successful tenderer, and informs unsuccessful tenderers of the outcome of the adjudication by issuing regret letters
- Negotiates, establishes and manages contracts according to submitted customer requests, Negotiates the contracting terms and conditions with potential business partners
- Manages commercial terms and conditions of contracts including administering and negotiating the renewal of time based contracts where appropriate and issues amendments to contracts where required
- Executes close-out of expired contracts, within allocated areas, by ensuring that due process is followed in terms of notifying the business partner, demobilisation, final account closure and resolution of all outstanding queries
- Acquire knowledge on the implementation of safety, health and environmental programmes

- Recommends and incorporates cost saving initiatives into budgets and controls the expenditure within approved parameters
- Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives
- Adheres to all safety health and environmental policies and procedures in areas of responsibility
Education
- Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management, Materials Management or any Commercial Degree or equivalent
Experience
5 years post qualification experience, 2 of which should be in a Contracts Administration environment
