STRATEGIC IMPACT

This role is critical for effective reduction of non-performing loans and recovery of bad debts from written off accounts. Prompt recovery of bad debt and maintaining low level of non-performing loans assists in reducing the Bank’s financial loss.

ADMINISTRATION

  1. To receive accounts which have been delinquent for 91 days, analyze them, review and determine the client’s ability to pay
  2. To ensure collection of debts from defaulting customers by issuing final demand letters timeously.
  3. Contacting defaulters through making regular telephone calls, tracing them through several credit bureau platforms.
  4. To negotiate repayment schedules by analyzing and recommendation through loan restructuring and arrears capitalization.
  5. Ability to interpret financial information.
  6. Comprehensive understanding of NDB Product line.
  7. Compile all relevant documents necessary for litigation and initiate further collections through referrals of accounts for litigation to external attorneys.
  8. Facilitate and monitor litigation progress through constant communication with external legal service providers and record every progress by constantly updating the litigation tracking report.
  9. To liaise with external attorneys and provide assistance to them when needed.
  10.  Ensure that properties which have been placed under judicial attachment are advertised and sold in order to recover money owed to the Bank.
  11. To ensure collection of weekly issues of Government Gazette
  12. Attend auction sales, receive auction sale reports from Deputy Sheriffs review them, ensure payment of full sale proceeds (/bid amount) and recommend account for closure where debt has been fully paid.
  13. To prepare accounts due for write off and prepare write off reports as per Credit Risk Policy.
  14. To draw up, develop and implement an effective project visit schedule with the endeavor to make field collections and security verifications.
  15. To negotiate payment proposals with clients and follow the proposals.
  16. To compose and respond to correspondences from and to clients timeously.
  17. To ensure and update client’s data in terms of KYC requirements.
  18. Consulting with clients on a daily basis in order to meet their various needs and attend to their queries.
  19. To request information from a variety of individuals, private and public agencies to determine assets and secure payments.
  20. To ensure the effective recordkeeping and backups of all debt recovery documents.
  21. To initiate payments of external attorneys, Deputy Sheriffs, legal adverts and other service providers.
  22. To prepare weekly and monthly reports.
  23. To execute Agricultural Assets in terms of the Agricultural Charges Act (Cap 35:01).
  24. List All Non performing Accounts in C.R.B and Compuscan and monitor the listing.
  25. May orient new employees on the unit.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma in Banking/Credit administration, Diploma in Debt Management.
  • AAT /AIOB is an added advantage
  • At least 1-2 years debt recovery experience with a demonstrated track record.
