The Civil Supervisor will be in-charge of development of an integrated civil works plan.

Reporting to the Projects Superintendent this position is responsible for the planning and delivery civil projects within the process plant. The Civil Supervisor will be in-charge of development of an integrated civil works plan (for the scope of work) incorporating all stakeholders and technical functions and in line with Sandfire standards. In addition, set-up of required controls to ensure delivery of all civil works against these standards.

Key Performance Areas

  • Provides direction of plant operations to avoid impacts on safety, reliability, and environmental compliant operation of the plant.
  • Maintains heightened planning team awareness.
  • Manages construction and engineering project teams, including staffing, supervision, performance management, training, and development.
  • Studying construction and plant site drawings, reporting any construction issues, developing a plan to safely build plate steel structures, also completion of associated works while considering schedules and budgets.
  • Responsible for the management and safety of construction projects, through planning, organizing, and controlling projects, they create an efficient and safe workplace, including materials and personnel.
  • Maintains project administration in a correct and timely manner.
  • Orders materials and equipment and takes care of the necessary tasks permits.
  • Assesses safety and finance goals.
  • Manages sub-contractors by locating, evaluating, and selecting contractors.
  • Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews.
  • Meets construction budget by monitoring project expenditures.
  • Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose and scope.

Technical Competencies

  • Ability to read construction blueprints and store elevation drawings.
  • Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects.
  • Great time management and problem-solving skills
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Upkeep of drawings archive

 Qualification & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in civil engineering or a related field is required to work as a civil construction supervisor.
  • Registered with Engineers Registration Board Botswana (ERB)
  • Experience in public works or civil engineering
  • 5-7 years’ experience in Construction and mining industry
