Responsibilities
We are looking for a versatile, driven and dynamic individual to join our team as Chef for a period of six (6) months. The individual will plan and supervise the production and service of food cost effectively.
Key Performance Areas
- Complies with safety, health and environment policies and procedures.
- Plans, prepares, cooks and serves food according to schedule, observing the department’s standards of quality and portion control.
- Requisitions food items according to the menu.
- Maintains sufficient stocks of food and stores them under correct conditions in the chef’s pantry.
- Inspects all dishes leaving the kitchen for presentation and correct temperature according to set standards.
- Assists with the planning of menus, the receiving, checking and storing of supplies according to departmental procedures.
- Issues and records goods as requisitioned by cooks for meals preparations according to the menu schedule.
- Inspects perishable stock for availability and condition.
- Utilises available resources effectively.
- Conducts regular inspections in accordance with the cleaning schedule.
- Keeps all working areas and equipment in a clean and hygienic condition.
- Attends to customer queries and complaints in accordance with procedure.
- Complies with safety, health and environment policy and procedures.
Minimum Requirements
- National Craft Certificate in Hospitality or related field
- Minimum two years experience in catering in either a hotel or canteen environment. Detailed hands on knowledge of kitchen and food preparation procedures is essential.
