Description
To plan, organise, conduct and control training and development of Cabin Crew members to meet Airline’s Learning and Development Plans in line with skills, competency and regulatory requirements of the business. The Cabin Crew Training Specialist reports to Crew Training Manager, provides proactive training and development as well as support to front-line management of Flight Operations. Develops cabin crew workforce skills and competency development plans. Executes mandatory training services for Cabin Crew as per projected plans and related performance standards of cabin crew members including conducting extensive service quality audits to uncover areas for service enhancement. He provides performance feedback to cabin crew members and management, serves as a mentor by consistently displaying the highest levels of professional standards and stakeholders’ management.

1.1. Principal Responsibilities and Accountabilities (Key Performance Areas)

  • Plan, Organise, Conduct and Control training non-technical/technical training and development of Cabin Crew members.
    • Preparing and amending as appropriate, the Cabin Crew Manual and Training Manual Part D.
    • Liaising with the Cabin Crew Instructors when arranging and devising training schedules for initial, recurrent and refresher training in all subjects.
    • Managing the selection and development of internal training appointments with the Crew Training Manager and Inflight Services Manager.
  • Cabin Crew Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and Return on Investment (ROI)
    • To research, develop and upgrade training methods and concepts to ensure best practice and maximum cost effectiveness.
    • Identifies cost containment measures and projects within the Section.
    • Training Needs Analysis, Training Design and Development, Cost effective Training Delivery Planning and Evaluation.
    • Coordinates identification of technical training needs in conjunction with Chief Pilot, Crew Training Manager and Inflight Services Manager and designs training programs suited to business operational requirements.
      • Guides the Business to prepare their short, medium and long-term technical training plans to meet the Airline’s Cabin Crew training needs and operations requirements.
  • Maintain Passenger and Flight Security, Safety and Quality Management
    • Ensures strict compliance with the flight security, safety and quality standards, policies and procedures as well as timely escalation of complex issues or deviations to the pilot in command.
    • Patrol cabins and carry out checks throughout the flights to ensure passenger safety and security
    • Perform emergency drills according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Carrying out instructor assessments and related cabin crew quality assurance checks and audits.
    • Liaising with Chief Pilot, Crew Training Manager and Inflight Services Manager to schedule and integrate cabin re-training in the interests of safety and security of operations and efficiency.
    • Implementing corrective actions where non-conformities are identified from Cabin Crew Training audits in liaison with Chief Pilot, Crew Training Manager and Inflight Services Manager.
  • Administration of Quality Customer/Passenger Services by Cabin Crew
    • Inspect cabins before take-offs to ensure compliance with safety and security regulations.

    • Ensure cabin crew service delivery adheres to organisational standards and pre-flight briefing requirements.
    • Review cabin crew service delivery standards against established performance audit checklists.
  • Periodic Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting on Cabin Crew Training and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensures that Cabin Crew operate aircraft in compliance with IOSA requirements.
    • Ensures that all regulatory and Company requirements in relation to cabin crew training are met and that every cabin crew member has achieved and maintained the required standard.
      • Liaising with Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana on cabin crew training and regulatory requirements.
    • To ensure that the necessary facilities and equipment are available to implement all training plans and arrange for additional facilities as may be required.
    • Monitors implementation and compliance of the Flight Operations training budgets and controls expenditure against authorized training budgets.
    • Collates and produces analytic reports on Cabin Crew Training.
    • Coordinates post training evaluation and  analysis of  results and makes recommendations to management to ensure suitability and effectiveness of training.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Liaising with the Technical Pilot, Technical Services, aircraft manufacturers and other external entities in relation to aircraft cabin crew member training matters.
    • Organising regular meetings of cabin crew instructors and designated examiners.
    • Carrying out sufficient cabin crew duties as may be required to maintain a high standard of proficiency in order to be able to assess the competency of cabin crew.

Requirements

Minimum Education required :-

  • A recognized Diploma/Degree in Business Administration or equivalent, with Cabin Crew License, Professional and Regulatory Certifications required. Train the Trainer Certification required.

 Minimum Experience required :-

  •       A minimum of six (6) years post graduate experience (uninterrupted and active in-flight experience as a Cabin Crew Member), of which three (3) years should have been in a role as a Senior Cabin Crew or Supervisor advising on conducting training on Airline’s Fleet for efficiency of operations and Regulatory Requirements.
