The Botswana Defence Force is looking to employ suitably qualified Non-Uniformed Personnel for the following positions:

1. DEPUTY CONTROLLER OF FIRE SERVICES D2 – X1 POSITION TENABLE AT THEBEPHATSHWA AIR BASE

Qualifications: BSc in Fire Engineering, BSc in Fire Safety or BSc Fire Safety Management
Experience: At least twelve (12) years’ relevant work experience, two (2) of which should have been served as Chief Fire Officer at D3 salary scale.

Salary: D2 (P320,952 – 353,928) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum.

Benefits:
a. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% while Employee pays 50%).
b. Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15% while Employee pays 5%).
c. P 309.00 housing and upkeep allowance.

Job Purpose: Coordinate Fire, Crash and Rescue Services policies and procedures in the Botswana Defence Force to ensure attainment of BDF goals.

Job Duties and Responsibility:
Facilitate the development of Fire, Crash and Rescue Services policies and procedures to ensure compliance to standards.
Provide leadership and direction for the achievement of BDF Fire, Crash and Rescue Services mandate.
Provide advice on the implementation of firefighting policies and procedures to ensure compliance to governing instruments.
Manage the processing of all administrative issues and queries to ensure timely response in line with relevant policies and procedures.
Oversee employee grievance/complaints and disciplinary action processes to ensure compliance to governing instruments.
Liase with stakeholders to strengthen relationship for the achievement of the Fire, Crash and Rescue Services goals.
Facilitate the training and development of the Fire, Crash and Rescue Services personnel to develop skills and

competencies.
Manage the implementation of Performance Management System to ensure operational efficiency

2. PRINCIPAL DENTAL OFFICER D2 X1 – TENABLE AT SSKB

Qualifications: Degree in Dental Surgery (Dentistry) from a recognized institution.

Experience: Must have served at least two (2) years satisfactory service as Senior Dental Officer D3 salary scale or equivalent.

Salary scale: D2 (P320,952 – P353,928) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum.

Certification: Membership with Botswana Health Professions Council is mandatory and must be licensed to practice.

Benefits:
a. Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% while Employee pays 50%).
b. Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15% while Employee pays 5%)

Job purpose: Coordinate the provision of preventive, curative and rehabilitative oral health care services in the Botswana Defence Force.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide advice on the implementation of oral health policies and procedures to ensure compliance to set standards.
Manage the implementation of quality improvement initiatives to ensure operational efficiency.
Coordinate oral health promotional and preventive interventions in order to improve health and prevent diseases.
Collaborate with Level II health facilities and develop initiatives to enable patient centric coordinated care.
Assess and administer appropriate oral health interventions to ensure optimal recovery of patients.
Provide advice on the procurement and installation of oral and dental equipment, accessories and consumables to conform to set quality standards.
Carry out research to create a body of knowledge and evidence based practice.

3. MEDICAL OFFICER D4 X1 – TENABLE AT 2 MILITARY GARRISON (FRANCISTOWN)

Qualifications: Degree of Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from a recognized institution. Active Advanced cardiac life support and Advanced trauma life support shall be an added advantage.

Experience: Must have served on internship at C1 salary scale for at least one (1) year.

Salary scale: D4 (P243,756 – P268,680) per annum.

Leave: 30 working days per annum.

e. Review patients and continuously update findings and make referrals to relevant health care providers for further assessment where necessary.
f. Provide Physicians with assistance during surgery or complicated medical procedures.
g. Interprets Laboratory, Radiology and other health care provider’s results to the patient.
f. Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient records to ensure continuity of care.
h. Collaborate with nurses, specialists and other medical professionals for integrated patient care.

4. SENIOR SOCIAL WELFARE OFFICER D4 X1 – TENABLE AT SSKB

Qualifications: Degree in Social Work.

Job purpose: To provide Psycho social support and counselling to members of the BDF and their families in order to improve their quality of life.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
a. Assess and counsel individuals with mental illness or substance abuse problems, including abuse of alcohol, tobacco or other drugs through individual and or group therapy, outreach, crisis intervention, social rehabilitation.
b. Provide psycho-social support to clients in difficult circumstances through one on one and family counselling.
c. Review case histories, analyze and make proper recommendations to remedy the problems.
d. Monitor and supervise the implementation of social welfare standards to ensure compliance.
e. Process adoption cases, child custody cases, property claims in accordance with the requirements of the law and courts of law.
f. Analyze and determine cases requiring high level intervention and consult or refer client accordingly.
g. Undertake any other related duties as directed by Command.
h. Supervises and manages the administration of other non-uniformed Social Welfare Officers.
i. Interpret and implement Social Welfare policies and programmes.

5. CHIEF REGISTERED NURSE/ SENIOR NURSING OFFICER (INTENSIVE CARE UNIT X1 RENAL X1, THEATRE NURSE X1 AND PSYCHIATRIC – X1) D4 X4 – TENABLE AT SSKB AND THEBEPHATSHWA AIR BASE

Qualifications: Diploma/Degree in General Nursing from an accredited institution plus post basic qualification in (Intensive Care Unit X1/, Renal X1/, Theatre Nurse X1 and Psychiatric Nurse X1)
Experience At least (2) two years’ experience as Principal Registered Nurse/ Nursing Officer I at C1 salary scale or four (4) years’ experience on area of specialization.
Salary scale: D4 (P243,756 – P268,680).

Leave: 30 working days per annum.

Certification: Must be registered with Nursing and Midwifery Council of Botswana and licensed to practice.

Benefits:
Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% while Employee pays 50%).
Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15% while Employee pays 5%).
Housing and Upkeep Allowance of P309.00 per month.
d. Nurses overtime allowance of 30% of basic monthly salary plus Post Basic Allowance of 10% of basic monthly salary where applicable.

Job purpose: Provide quality patient care and nursing services in the BDF health facilities to ensure optimal recovery of patients.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
a. Assist on the implementation of Intensive Care Unit/ Renal/ Obstetrics & Gynecology/ Psychiatry policies and procedures to ensure compliance to set standards.
b. Facilitate booked and emergency Intensive Care Unit/ Renal/ Obstetrics & Gynecology/ Psychiatry policies patients to determine appropriate treatment modality.
c. Evaluate patient’s conditions, administering treatment and providing constant support during recovery.
d. Develop specific standards and guidelines on performance expectations for clinical teaching.
e. Prepare and takes clinical ward rounds with a multi-disciplinary team for continuity of patient care.
f. Deliver regular updates to Doctors, Patients and their family members.
g. Respond to a medical emergency and select appropriate drug when necessary
h. Manage the implementation of quality improvement initiatives to ensure operational efficiency.
i. Mediate in conflict situations for both patients and junior team members.

Qualifications: Diploma in Fire Engineering and Safety Management.

Experience: At least two (2) years’ satisfactory experience as Divisional Fire Officer at C1 salary scale.

Salary: D4 (P243,756 – 268,680) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum.

Benefits:

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science/ Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or Physical therapy from an accredited University

Experience: Four (4) years’ relevant work experience, two (2) years of which should have been served as Physiotherapist II at C2 salary scale.

Salary scale: C1 (P174,672– P207,792) per annum

Leave: 30 working days per annum

Certification: Membership with Botswana Health Professions Council is mandatory and must be licensed to practice.

Job purpose: Monitor the provision of evidence-based physiotherapy practice and rehabilitation in the BDF.

Job Duties and Responsibility
a. Recommend the Installation of Mechanical aids and modification of physical barriers to patients in the BDF.
b. Rehabilitate patients though use of manual therapy, electro-physical modalities and exercises.

Qualifications: Trade Test C (Refrigeration & Air Conditioning) or equivalent qualification

Experience: Two (2) years’ experience as Craft Improver A1 salary scale or equivalent role

Salary scale: B4 (P54, 612 – P62, 304) per annum

10. CRAFTSMAN II B4 (ELECTRICAL) – 1 POSITION TENABLE AT 2 MILITARY GARRISON (FRANCISTOWN)

Qualifications: Trade Test C (Electrical) or equivalent qualification

Experience: Two (2) years’ experience as Craft Improver A1 salary scale

Salary scale: B4 (P54,612 – P62,304) per annum.

Leave: 20 working days per annum

Job duties and responsibilities:
a. Receive faulty appliances from electrical section store man together with job card and tests electrical components to detect faults
b. Dismantle appliances to check that wiring is intact and terminals are properly connected
c. Identify parts needing replacement and requests stores staff to prepare acquisition
d. Make cable extensions and fits plugs
e. Shovel materials to and from construction areas.
f. Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management.
g. Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use, and securing the job site on a daily basis.
