This position is responsible to provide effective geotechnical engineering services to meet the operations production requirements.
This position is responsible to provide effective geotechnical engineering services to meet the operations production requirements through data collection, inspections, and compliance of the ground control management plan in the field.
Key Performance Areas
- Gather, analyse, and update geotechnical data from field investigations.
- Create detailed geotechnical reports on findings, groundwater conditions, hazards maps, slope data, and site characteristics.
- Monitor and analyse slope stability, maintaining systems and collaborating on risk assessments and emergency plans in alignment with statutory regulations.
- Maintain geotechnical instruments such as piezometers, TDR’s, and inclinometers.
- Perform as-built wall audits and approve blast designs for compliance.
- Use geotechnical engineering software for modelling, analysis, and design.
- Ensure full compliance to health and safety policies and procedures in all geotechnical activities.
- Communicate geotechnical findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders.
Technical Competencies
- Be aware of the impact of geological factors, such as faults and rock movements, on mining operations.
- Geotechnical skills with sound principles in rock mechanics.
- Identification of geotechnical and hydrogeological risks awareness.
- Ability to simplify complex datasets and present them comprehensibly to relevant stakeholders

Qualification & Experience
- Geology/Engineering Geology Degree or Equivalent e.g., Strata Control.
- 3 Years Post Qualification experience or demonstrated equivalency.
