Main purpose of the position
Support the preparation of cost estimates, assist with inspections, aid in installations, contribute to system operations and maintenance activities, all aimed at ensuring network availability, maintaining quality supply, enhancing operational safety, and facilitating efficient customer service delivery within the designated area of responsibility.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide support to ensure prompt and effective resolution of system faults, disturbances, and customer supply disruption issues, to ensure timeous restoration of supply.
- Assist in conducting inspections of consumer installation wiring to ensure compliance with statutory and BPC (Botswana Power Corporation) regulations.
- Support the inspection and maintenance of the distribution network according to the approved maintenance schedule to ensure availability and reliability
- Provide support to ensure the safe and efficient execution of customer disconnection and \ reconnection activities, contributing to the maintenance of safety standards and customer satisfaction.
- Support the assembly, installation, wiring, calibration, and testing of network equipment to ensure compliance with procedures, regulations, and safety standards.
- Provide support to ensure the successful commissioning and acceptance of new networks within delegated limits, contributing to the overall reliability and performance of the network infrastructure.
- Assist in preparing system-switching programs for approval, gathering relevant data, and assisting in drafting the switching procedures, and ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulations for isolation and restoration of power supply
- Assist in various tasks to facilitate the preparation of network designs and cost estimates in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provide support to ensure effective communication and collaboration with customers/clients regarding technical requirements for different types of supply, contributing to the successful implementation of preliminary design projects.
- Provide support to ensure the accurate and efficient updating of schematics on distribution network systems, facilitating effective communication and collaboration with Network Planning and other stakeholders within the organization.
- Provide support to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of machine operations within the organization.
- Provide support to ensure efficient and effective work organization, allocation, and supervision within the organization.
- Support the assessment of customer potential and opportunities for growth, as well as recommend targeting potential customers to relevant stakeholders. This include assisting in qatherinq data and conductinq analysis to identify trends and patterns in customer behaviour, preferences and needs.
- Investigation of public liability incidents and the timely compilation and submission of reports, contributing to effective risk management and compliance with legal and regulatory obligations with guidance.
- Provide support to ensure the accurate and thorough investigation and analysis of meter readings to confirm proper billing practices, contributing to the overall integrity and efficiency of the billing process and customer satisfaction.
- Provide support to ensure the timely and accurate preparation of reports on issues relating to the area of responsibility, facilitating informed decision-making and effective communication within the organization.
- Provide support to ensure the effective and efficient collection of field data on distribution equipment, facilitating informed decision-making and strategic planning for maintenance and operations within the organization.
- Provide support to ensure the effective and efficient collection of loads readings and
- voltages in the network, facilitating informed decision-making and strategic planning for maintenance and operations within the organization.
- Identify shortcoming in the distribution network and come up with improvement plans.
Qualifications
• Recognised National Craft Certificate in Electrical or equivalent.
• Class B Driver’s License is required
• Must obtain Senior authorization within six (6) months (internal) and twelve (12) months (external)
