In its pursuit to become a Competitive Commercial Power Utility within the Region, Botswana Power Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified, highly energetic, dynamic, result oriented, innovative, and customer focused individuals, who believe they can be part of a great team that delivers power to Botswana to apply for the below listed position not later than 29th November 2024.

 

Main purpose of the position

To provide support in construction, maintenance, and repairs of overhead lines, underground cables and ancillary equipment in accordance with Procedures, Regulations and Safety Standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs operational tasks within given settings/parameters by following established processes.
  • Excavates trenches and holes manually or using powered tools as directed.
  • Cleans and paints apparatus as directed.
  • Clear trees and weeds interfering with network equipment and substations to provide access and ensure network availability.
  • Distributes shut down notices to Customers.
  • Cleans and rehabilitates work site after completion of work.
  • Cleans Corporation vehicles and maintains housekeeping at all times.
  • Carries out inspections of overhead lines according to a maintenance schedule.
  • Accompanies the work teams on lines patrol and inspections during fault location and line maintenance work to facilitate repairs and maintenance.
  • Operates complex machines, prioritizing routing tasks to improve efficiency and adjusting multiple related variables to resolve problems.
  • Maintains toolbox and avails tools as required by the work teams.
  • Works within strict quality standards to support the Quality function.
  • Operates in accordance with policies and rules.
  • Ensures compliance to SHER procedures when carrying out duties.
  • Actively participates in the safety, health and environment programmes as driven by the Corporation.

Qualifications

•    BGCSE
•    Valid Class B Driver’s License
•   License in operation of Crane/Earth moving equipment will be an added advantage
