Duties
Incumbent serves as a team member responsible for the maintenance and repair of high-power Medium wave and Shortwave transmitting antennas, transmission lines and supporting ancillary equipment. Incumbent reports directly to the Facilities Supervisor on the maintenance of Medium Wave and Short-Wave antenna systems for keeping the transmission standard at the required levels.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of 2 years trade experience as a rigger, of which a minimum of one year must encompass climbing and working on elevated structures (50 feet or higher) such as towers, building construction sites and elevated platforms is required.
Education Requirements:
Completion of secondary school is required and completion of vocational Training in Antenna system maintenance/rigging is required
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE:
English level III (good working knowledge) speaking/reading/writing is required; Setswana level IV (fluent) speaking/reading/writing is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must have ability to use with full competence tools, safety devices, machinery and instruments involved in the rigging trade. Must have intermediate knowledge of construction practices involved in high steel tower and cable installation. Must have a thorough understanding of the handling and control of high voltage power as applied to antenna systems radiating up to 600 KW of power and must have ability to comfortably work at elevations up 500 ft is required.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Gaborone, Botswana may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
