ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT- STUDENT WELFARE (SPECIAL NEEDS)

The Institute of Development Management (IDM) was established in 1974 as a regional institution by the Governments of Botswana, Lesotho and Eswatini. IDM has shaped futures of many Batswana with Executive Development Courses and Long Term Training, and continue to achieve its mandate through helping the public and private organizations to meet their management needs through Education, Training,Research and Consultancy Services. IDM Botswana has campuses in Gaborone and Francistown. IDM, therefore, invites applicants from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the above position:

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
This role is required to contribute to existing student welfare matters that responds to the needs of learners with special needs. The role further plays an advocacy functions to ensure inclusivity in learning and when they access the world of work.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Advocates for learners with special needs.
· Advocates for policies that are inclusive to the wellbeing of special needs learners.
· Initiates activities and extra curricular activities/ workshops.
· Liasses with other internal offices to ensure alignment with standards and needs for special needs learners.
· Encourages special needs learners to go for counselling with accredited counsellors.
· Refer learners for assessment sessions with CRC for educational assessment.
· Prepare reports periodically for performance reviews with supervisor and team.

The above is not exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by operations within the Student Services Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED NECESSARY
A Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or any relevant qualification.

EXPERIENCE AND WORKING KNOWLEDGE
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum 3 years work experience in special needs education. Excellent interpersonal skills.

Solid knowledge of engagement techniques. Thorough knowledge of special needs resource analytics. Solid understanding of relevant policies and regulations
