Job Description

FNB Botswana is looking for a professional accountant with excellent people relationship skills. Attention to detail is a key attribute of the role, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic environment wherein result orientation is the norm.

The individual will primarily be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Being a custodian of primary financial controls, performing regular controls tests and assessments to ensure the controls environment remains sound at all times
  • Performing account balance substantiation on regular intervals, taking corrective action as may be necessary
  • Undertaking risk management and governance duties to support sound oversight on the Bank’s financial controls
  • Conducting regular reviews on accounting and finance procedures, policies and processes, including system-based accounting and finance processes to ensure continued relevance and efficiency
  • Build working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance work delivery, collaboration, and innovation
  • Control expenditure and identify process improvements to contain and reduce costs
  • Display and encourage an appreciation of teamwork and inclusivity
  • Compile reports that track progress and guide business to make informed decisions
  • Ensure development and continuous value add improvement to operational processes
  • Prepare and report on the business’s operations and financial conditions.
  • Coordination and involvement in process improvements and process reengineering initiatives

Qualifications and Experience

  • A professional accounting qualification from an internationally recognized body: BICA, ACCA, CIMA
  • A relevant Business Degree, with majors in accounting and/or Finance
  • At least 3-5 years of progressive work experience in finance and accounting, prior work in a controls or auditing environment will be a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and spur change, facilitate, and enhance performance within a cross – functional environment.
  • Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment and collaborate across multiple areas to achieve a common business objective.
